BEIJING: The People’s Liberation Army of China has formed a special cyber warfare unit , called Blue Team , to safeguard the Internet security of the military, Chinese Defence Ministry has said.

It is important for the military to strengthen its defence capabilities against the Internet attacks, Defence Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng has been quoted as saying in the official media here today.

TT Corporation (ITT – Analyst Report) has developed a revolutionary countermeasures system to protect helicopters from shoulder-fired, heat-seeking missiles. This development is a part of U.S.military’s Common Infrared Countermeasures (CIRCM) program.

Helicopters have an increasingly bigger role to play in humanitarian, relief and military operations in remote and potentially dangerous locations around the world. Hence the requirement for an effective, lightweight defense against ground-based threats has also increased.

RLINGTON, Va., 27 May 2011. Navigation and guidance researchers at the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, Va., have chosen four technology companies so far for a project to develop a miniature gyroscope for smart munitions, ships, vehicles, aircraft, and infantry soldiers.

DARPA awarded contracts to the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, Mass., and at the Systron Donner Inertial segment of Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST) in Concord, Calif., this week to participate in the Microscale Rate Integrating Gyroscope (MRIG) program.
