DARPA eyes boosting embedded computing without adding heat and size



Computer scientists at the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, Va., are asking for industry’s help in an effort to develop military embedded systems technology that boosts performance dramatically without increasing size, weight, and waste heat.

Military Modernization: Back to the Future



President Barack Obama’s vision for modernizing the U.S. military is little more than an exercise in “back to the future.” Consider: Back in 2001, the armed forces were nearly a decade into positing what 21st-century warfare would entail. These considerations were based on notions set forth by the individual (military) services. They also considered how the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) could be structured to meet strategic challenges beyond 2015.

Obama’s new military strategy



President Obama has announced his new military strategy. It involves major cuts in military spending. Now, a number of highly respected military analysts are coming forward warning that the changes may be bad for America’s future.
