Austal awarded $432.1 million contract for construction LCSs
General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics Corporation was awarded a contract by Austal USA to act as the Platform Systems Engineering Agent of the Independence-class Littoral Combat Ships . Austal is an Australian company that specializes in the design and construction of aluminium vessels.
Its main products include passenger and freight ferries, luxury yachts and military vessels. Initially General Dynamics is expected to work on one ship, with nine additional ship contracts to be awarded over the following five years.
