Perot subcontracts General Dynamics

 General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) has received a task order to support a Perot Systems Government Services Inc. information technology services contract with the U.S. Army.   U.S. company General Dynamics says its Information Technology business unit was awarded the subcontract as part of the Army's Information Technology Enterprise Solutions-Two Services contract vehicle.   Under the $11 million award, General Dynamics will provide Perot with network operations and security and information assurance support among other requirements to the Fort Monmouth Directorate of Information Management.   "General Dynamics will continue to support the Fort Monmouth community with a wide range of information technology services," Zannie Smith, General Dynamics Information Technology Army Solutions division senior vice president, said in a statement.   "We are dedicated to ensuring a strong and secure IT enterprise for the Army personnel at Fort Monmouth."

General Dynamics wins $341 million Canadian Army contract

General Dynamics Canada Corp. won a $341 million contract from the Canadian Army for communications services to the army’s Land Command Support System.   The five-year contract includes options to extend the support for up to five more years, bringing the total potential contract value to $682 million.   In the mid-1990s, with the support of General Dynamics Canada, the Canadian Army transitioned to a fully digital communications system. Since 2003, General Dynamics Canada has provided in-service support for this system, which is currently being used by Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan.   Under the contract, General Dynamics Canada and its partners will support the operation and maintenance of the currently deployed system at home and abroad. The companies will also provide engineering services in support of periodic enhancements of the systems capabilities by integrating new software and hardware elements.   Work related to contract will be conducted at General Dynamics Canada’s facility in Calgary, which provides command, control, communications and integrated sensor systems.   General Dynamics Corp., of Falls Church, Va. ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.

General Dynamics Reaches An MC4 PMO Agreement.

The U.S. Army has chosen General Dynamics to deliver full spectrum information technology support for mission critical tactical healthcare operations.   U.S. company General Dynamics says its Information Technology unit was awarded the contract to deliver its IT services in support of the Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care Product Management Office, or MC4 PMO.   Under the $154 million Army Program Executive Office, Enterprise Information Systems task order, General Dynamics will deliver the MC4 PMO with on site tactical medical forces systems support among other pre-deployment and deployment services.   "We will continue to support MC4's vision for improved tactical healthcare and better decision-making through the power of information technology," Zannie Smith, General Dynamics Information Technology Army Solutions Division senior vice president, informed in a statement.   "Our in-depth experience and thorough understanding of the program and its requirements enable us to promote, maintain and enhance the health and readiness of military personnel."

General Dynamics To Support U.S Air Force Air Defense Communications Service 2.

General Dynamics Information Technology has been awarded a contract by the Defense Information Technology Contracting Office to support the U.S. Air Force Air Defense Communications Service 2 program.   The agreement covers one base year with four option years and has a total potential value of $67.7 million if all options are exercised. General Dynamics will deliver around-the-clock operations and maintenance support for three Battle Control Centers and an Air Operations Center situated in Rome, N.Y.; Panama City, Fla.; Tacoma, Wash.; and Anchorage, Alaska; and program management and engineering services for associated facilities worldwide. In addition, General Dynamics will serve as the single system manager for communications systems supporting the North American Aerospace Defense Command's air sovereignty mission by developing, integrating, and maintaining mission systems at the control centers and more than 150 remote site locations.

GD Land Systems Canada Awards $150m Contract for Reactive Armour

General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada has awarded General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products a $150m contract to qualify and produce reactive armour for Stryker vehicles.   GD's reactive armour system comprises tiles that fix to the exterior of the Stryker family of vehicles, enabling better protection against hits from anti-armour munitions.   GD Armament and Technical Products vice president and general manager of weapon systems Russ Klein said that the lightweight armour technology provides an increased level of equipment and troop protection against shape-charged threats, including rocket-propelled grenades.   In support of this new contract, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission awarded General Dynamics a grant to offset costs incurred in purchasing production-related equipment.   Work will be performed at the General Dynamics facility in Camden, Arkansas, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in March 2010.

US Army deal for Gen. Dynamics Canada

The U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command, in support of the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command (USASAC), has awarded a USD$2.2 billion contract to General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada for 724 Light Armored Vehicles (LAV) for a Foreign Military Sale (FMS). Vehicle deliveries will begin in April 2011. General Dynamics Land Systems, the Canadian company's parent corporation, is a business unit of General Dynamics ( GD).   The contract was signed through the Canadian Commercial Corporation, a Crown Agency of the Canadian Government.   Dr. Sridhar Sridharan, senior vice-president of General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada, said, "We are pleased to be working once again with TACOM and USASAC in support of their Foreign Military Sales program. This contract now allows us to immediately start work on variant design and production readiness. We look forward to reaching the manufacturing portion of this contract which will help us bring stability to our production workforce."   Vehicles provided under this contract will be the LAV II version -- a 300 horsepower 8x8 vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of up to 32,000 lbs (14,500 kg). General Dynamics Awarded $28 Million for Production of M2 Heavy Barrel Machine Guns

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded a contract modification valued at approximately $28 million from U.S. Army Tank Automotive Command (TACOM), Rock Island, Ill., to produce M2HB machine guns. This option modifies a contract originally awarded in 2007, bringing the total value to date to more than $100 million. Deliveries from this award are expected to begin in December 2009.   According to General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products gun systems senior program manager, Dean Gagnon, “Our M2’s accuracy, durability and versatility make it ideal for offensive and defensive operations. It’s a belt-fed, recoil-operated, air-cooled, crew-served weapon capable of right- or left-hand feed.”   The guns will be produced at General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products’ Saco, Maine, facility using its existing workforce. Since 1979, this site has delivered more than 25,000 M2 heavy barrel machine guns to the U.S. government. U.S. Army Awarded General Dynamics With $33 Million Order for Bradley Fighting Vehicle Reactive Armor

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has been awarded an order of approximately $33 million to produce reactive armor tile sets for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle by the U.S. Army Contracting Command in Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. Deliveries are expected to begin in June 2010. General Dynamics Awarded $154 Million to Support U.S. Army's Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care

General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded a task order to support the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office, Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS), Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care (MC4) Product Management Office (PMO). The task order is valued at $154 million over five years if all options are exercised.     General Dynamics will provide the full spectrum of pre-deployment, deployment, on-site, re-deployment and garrison support to MC4 PMO system activities at as well as worldwide training events, including combat areas and contingency operations use. General Dynamics also provides on-the-ground support for Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom with fielding, training and sustainment of MC4 medical information systems for tactical medical forces that have been deployed to serve warfighters.   MC4 integrates, fields and supports a comprehensive medical information system, enabling lifelong electronic medical records, streamlined medical logistics and enhanced situational awareness for Army tactical forces. Since 2003, MC4 has fielded 35,000 systems to combat support hospitals and deployable medical assets with the Army, Air Force, Navy and Army Special Operations Forces in 14 countries. GD To Boost MilSatComms Capacity With WIN-T Satellite Terminal Award

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies has received a $119 million modification to an existing delivery order to provide additional satellite communications earth terminals and support services for Increment One of the U.S. Army's Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) program. Under the contract, General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies will provide 293 Satellite Transportable Terminals (STT), 6 Unit Hub SATCOM Trucks (UHST) and 534 Ka-band upgrade kits and spares. The next-generation STT terminals enable network operation over Ku- or Ka-band satellite frequencies.   The new UHST unit hubs provide Ku- or Ka-band access and more modem capacity. Both the STTs and UHSTs are interoperable with satellite communications (SATCOM) units currently in use by the Army.   "The STTs and UHSTs which General Dynamics is delivering to WIN-T provide reliable video, voice and data communications that meet the Army's expanding requirements," said Gary Kanipe, General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies vice president and general manager.   "Through our production and refinement of these terminals, we offer a proven solution for mobile tactical SATCOM requirements to the U.S. Army, NATO forces and other U.S. allies."   The General Dynamics delivery order was made through exercised options on an existing World Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) delivery order, managed by the WIN-T program manager's Commercial Satellite Terminal Program (CSTP) in Ft. Monmouth, N.J.   This modification to the existing delivery order brings the contract's total value to date to $378 million for 956 STTs and 17 UHSTs, which represent approximately half of the hardware quantities available on the four-year program.
